The Kenyan internet comedian from Nairobi, Elsa Majimbo has been at it nonstop since rising to fame. The teen turned into a media sweetheart to many through her crude and relatable videos. She uses satire in her monologues while making videos at home. This began during the COVID 19 quarantine period.
By the end of 2020, she had been endorsed by both MAC and Fenty. This year is also looking very promising for her as Valentino, the luxury brand, made it official that they would be partnering with her. Through her Twitter account, she said, “My 19-year-old self got a chance to work with @FentyOfficial. I’m so proud.”
The comedian has been fortunate and all her efforts are paying off. During her recognition, the social media enthusiast has proved to the world that the sky is the limit after bagging various International awards. See below;
E! People Choice Award – Elsa was named for the honor close by Karl Kugelmann, Sho Madjozi, Thuso Mbedu, Lydia Forson and Zozi Tunzi.
“A big thank you to the people at @eentertainment for recognizing game,” Elsa wrote.
GQ Men of the Year Awards (South Africa) – In December 2020, Elsa won the GQ Entertainer of the year award. GQ wrote that South Africans have adopted the Kenyan star and named her Mpho, which means ‘gift’.
Forbes Woman Africa Entertainer Award – The award celebrates women in Africa who inspire confidence through rewriting the narrative and advocating for change.
“Thank you so much Forbes Woman for this award. I am over the moon,” Majimbo wrote on Twitter. This was moments after she was awarded virtually. She won this award alongside Hellen Obiri, the 5000m world champion on March 9, 2021.
Streamys Award – All things considered, in December 2020, Elsa got an honor from, Lilly Singh, famously known as Superwoman. Majimbo was granted the ‘Best New Comedy Creator of 2020’, which was important for the yearly YouTube Streamy Awards. While getting the honor, a passionate Majimbo said she didn’t recognize herself as an entertainer.
Elsa has been nominated for two more awards – The Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards and the MTV Africa Music Awards under the Personality of the year category.
