Eliud Kipchoge; Kenya’s First NFT

The NFTs influence has finally extended to Kenya, with Eliud Kipchoge, the world’s greatest marathoner, announcing the release of his first NFT.

Kipchoge’s NFT collection includes Ethereum blockchain digital representations of his career milestones. It has been digitally signed and approved by the record-holder himself.

The winner of the auction will receive the artwork in high quality and a personal video message from Eliud to congratulate the new owner. The auction closes on April 8, 2021, at 22:00 Central European Summer Time.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are the most recent cryptocurrency objects to gain popularity. NFTs are a type of cryptocurrency that has been issued on the blockchain. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, they are one-of-a-kind and thus “non-fungible.”

Delighted Eliud took to his Instagram and wrote, “I can say that I am really grateful to have the highlights of my career now available as NFT. In my career I have always been interested in innovation and therefore it fits me well to present my most memorable sport moments on the blockchain. I hope it will give someone around the world the same positive memories as it does to me. Please visit momentible.io to find all information.”

Kipchoge has won 12 of the 13 marathons he has participated in during his running career, including the Olympic Games marathon in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and four London marathons.

Eliud also holds the marathon world record, clocking a time of 2:01:39 at the 2018 Berlin marathon, breaking the previous record by one minute and 18 seconds.
