The recently crowned African King of Comedy, Eric Omondi, has been the talk of the town because of Wife Material. After launching his studio, Big Tyme Entertainment, he has not slowed down. Who would have thought that making people laugh is an entire career?
Following his quest to find a wife, he began the Wife Material series, late last year. As a single man, it can be difficult to get a wife. Hence, in his show he gets a chance to date, various women, for several weeks and decide whom he will marry.
Wife Material Season 1 included 9 women, all from across various counties in Kenya. After a competitive and dramatic 4 weeks, Kenyans voted and a wife was picked. Carol of the BandBeca emerged top and there was what we call, #WeddingOfTheCentury.
This opened up more opportunities for the sponsors of the show like, Bonfire Adventures, Kenya Charity Sweepstake, and William Lawsons Kenya. Marketing various destinations in Kenya showed the business side of Eric.
Wife Material Season 2 is back, much more bigger and better! Featuring the three East African countries, the show hosts a total of 15 women to take part in the competition. In addition, Omondi calls it #BattleOfTheNations. “It’s about to get nasty!!!” he says.
On the launch of the show, SautiSol and Suzanna Owiyo made a special appearance to entertain the girls. The concept mimics that of Big Brother Africa, this is huge coming from our very own.
The comedian prepared us for his next big moves, earlier in the year. As we have been witnessing various projects with several brands in Kenya, Eric categorically said, “The year is 2021 and the intention is clear. Only next level.”
