Sauti Sol and Bensoul win Grammy Awards for best producer and songwriter respectively for the Twice As Tall Album. This was under the Best Global Music Album category at the 2021 Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony.
Burna Boy acknowledged Kenya’s Sauti Sol and Bensoul for their input in the album making. Sauti Sol was among the producers while Bensoul participated in the writing of ‘Time Flies’. They were both ecstatic and took to their Instagram.
“Thank you @burnaboygram for paving the way. Music is contribution not a competition” said Sauti Sol.
Bensoul wrote, “It’s Only Up From Here! Thank you @burnaboygram and @sautisol for putting me on. I learned from the best. Ziwake kila corner.”
The Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album is an honor presented to recording artists for influential music from around the globe at the Grammy Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1958 and originally called the Gramophone Awards.
Burna Boy won Best Global Music Album for Twice As Tall at the 63rd Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony. They are the first winner of the newly renamed Best World World Music Music Album category, which was previously known as Best World Music Album. This is his first Grammy win in his career and is a great deal for Africa.
His album topped fellow nominees Antibalas, Bebel Gilberto, Anoushka Shankar, and Tinariwen.
Afterwards, Burna gave a fire performance to close out the Premiere Ceremony, featuring two Twice As Tall tracks—watch it here.
